Erica gracilis, Calluna vulgaris and erica x darleyensis you can plant very well in autumn. You can plant themon abed or into a bowle. It will be a good combination if you plant them whith coniferor boxtree. The hethers must be taut and fresh blossoms and leaves. The plant should be heavy (then the roots are damp enough). Before planting you must put the plants into a bowle whith water for 2-3 minutes. Not plant the plants deaper than the roots highest point.
If the weather is fine and it is frost-free, than you must water them (erica gracilis) is not winter resistant, by temperatures under 0° C it will die. But the plant will kept the blossoms (red, white and pink) The other two are winter resistant (if it is not under -8° C for a long time) (calluna vulgaris ) blossom in the end of august (erica x darleyensis) in autumn and winter. You must mow the plant in march/april, to help the plant in forming new young shoots. You must fertilize the hether like (rhododendren). You need a little bit sour acreage (pH 4-5). You can reach this by fertilizing whith natural produkts like turf. By planting into bowles you must by soil for hethers (it has the right pH).
